The importance of cleaning teeth

More than 90% of Germans brush their teeth at least once a day. The proportion of people that clean the interdental spaces as well is much lower. However, the relevance of cleaning the interdental spaces is equal to the relevance of cleaning your teeth. Interdental spaces are the origin for caries or inflammation of the periodontium.

Bacterial plaque forms between the teeth. If it is not mechanically removed, bacterial food ingredients begin to metabolize and trigger inflammations such as caries or periodontal disease. The toothbrush does not reach these places between the teeth. Therefore, tools such as dental floss and interdental brushes should be used from the age of 16.
